Every Tuesday at 9:15 a.m. this August the Plano Senior Bowling League have been practicing their skills and searching for new members.

Roy Taylor, 85-year-old Plano resident and league president, said the league is all about having fun and meeting new people.

Ginger Landry, 76, and her husband Gabe, 78, have been members of the league for 11 years. According to Ginger, the couple’s first date was at a bowling alley. Both have been hooked on bowling ever since.

Jean Elliott, an 80-year-old Plano resident and avid bowler, said she started bowling back when duckpin bowling was popular — a miniature version of bowling with small pins and balls that originated on the East Coast in the early 1900’s.

“We are all in the same boat. We are all getting old,” Ginger said. “A lot of these people don’t ever give up. It is the fun of bowling. But it is also the camaraderie.”

Some senior leaguers believe the sport is growing in popularity in people of all ages.

“I think bowling is coming back. You see all these young kids bowling,” said Rudy Varney, 65 of Plano. “It is cheap. Where else can you come in an afternoon and spend hours having fun.”

Gabe, who has survived open heart surgery, a knee replacement and rheumatoid arthritis, said hitting the lanes with his wife and friends is better than turning into a couch potato.

“It is a whole lot better than sitting at home watching TV,” Gabe said.

Gabe steps into the lane, begins his wind up and releases a ball with a nasty spin.

The result is a perfect strike and a round of applause from fellow leaguers.

“I’ll take that one,” Gabe said.

Someone asks, “How did you do that?”

Gabe replies, “I don’t know.”

Well, it certainly isn’t beginners luck.

Big spenders in Singapore for the city state’s first ever Formula One Grand Prix have boosted business for high-end social escort agencies by a fifth, a local paper reported Thursday.

The owner of  Singapore Escort Services, who says his clients are foreign bosses in the gas and banking industries, claims he has received five bookings for the weekend — including one for a local starlet at a fee of S$40,000 ($28,110) for six hours of work.

The owner of The High Society Club agency expects the escort business to be boosted by 75 per cent, while Singapore Model Escort is advertising on its website a 50 percent discounted “Singapore F1 GP Special offer”.

Prostitution is legal in Singapore but soliciting is not. The agencies said sexual services was not part of the deal but strictly between the escort and client to arrange.

Agencies say their high-profile clients are picky about their escorts, asking for companions “from a good family background and at least a university degree,” the Straits Times said.

“They want escorts who don’t look, sound or dress like escorts. They want people to think, ‘what a nice girlfriend he has’.”

There are any number of rumors and speculation regarding the Hollywood couples who may be or are swingers. After all, Will Smith let the world know that he and his wife participate in an “open marriage”. The ape is the last of four Cheetas who starred in the old Tarzan movies. Hollywood often used many look-alike animals for one role, such as Lassie.

Because of his extraordinary longevity, this Cheeta is now considered The Cheeta. He’s believed to be 76 years old, earning a Guinness certificate as the world’s oldest living non-human primate. Chimps in captivity can live up to 60 years; in the wild, up to 40.

Today Cheeta is semiretired and living in Palm Springs, as many of the old entertainers do.

Duncanville Police raided The Cherry Pit for a second time in three days.  Officers found hundreds of bottles of liquor while investigating whether the controversial swinger’s club is running an unlicensed bar.  (in case you didn’t know - raiding is the Duncanville’s phrase for “investigating”)

The Cherry Pit owners previously said that friends bring over the bottles and leave them there.

The city is also investigating whether there was money laundering and prostitution at the house as well.

Duncanville, Texas which proclaims itself “The Perfect Blend of Family, Community and Business,” is damned determined if nothing else.

At any rate, according to Dr Bhimu Patil, the centers directory, watermelon contains a phyto-nutrient called citrulline.

Citrulline is converted by the body into another amino acid, arginine. Arginine, in turn, boosts nitric oxide levels, (are you still with me?) “which relaxes blood vessels, the same basic effect that Viagra has,” says Dr Patil, “to treat erectile dysfunction and maybe even prevent it.”

Todd Wehner, who studies watermelon breeding at North Carolina State University, said anyone taking Viagra shouldn’t expect the same result from watermelon.

“It sounds like it would be an effect that would be interesting but not a substitute for any medical treatment,” Wehner said.

The nitric oxide can also help with angina, high blood pressure and other cardiovascular problems, according to the study, which was paid for by the US Department of Agriculture.

There appears to be only one small problem - when you eat a lot of watermelon which is 80% water, you spend a lot of time visiting the bathroom as watermelon is a diuretic and was a homeopathic treatment for kidney patients before dialysis became widespread.

Another issue is the amount of sugar that much watermelon would spill into the bloodstream - a jolt that could cause cramping.

You’ll have to decide if gorging yourself on watermelon is worth the effort. After all, you’ll be spending most of your days in the washroom cramping up and peeing like the last time you and your buddies had that beer drinking fest.

The Boulder County Planning Commission recently denied the businessman a special-use permit to open his business.

Jeff Mead went to Plan “B”. Mead put out a banner on his building which reads,”Patterson’s XXX Porn Gallery“.

Mead said he’s serious about opening the adult store to make money since he was denied a permit to open his rental shop.

Obviously his neighbors don’t appreciate his sense of humor.
The neighbors are claiming the move is childish and in poor taste.
