Walk into the Plano Super Bowl on a Tuesday morning and the place will be swingin’, with Swinging Seniors that is.

Every Tuesday at 9:15 a.m. this August the Plano Senior Bowling League have been practicing their skills and searching for new members.

Roy Taylor, 85-year-old Plano resident and league president, said the league is all about having fun and meeting new people.

Ginger Landry, 76, and her husband Gabe, 78, have been members of the league for 11 years. According to Ginger, the couple’s first date was at a bowling alley. Both have been hooked on bowling ever since.

Jean Elliott, an 80-year-old Plano resident and avid bowler, said she started bowling back when duckpin bowling was popular — a miniature version of bowling with small pins and balls that originated on the East Coast in the early 1900’s.

“We are all in the same boat. We are all getting old,” Ginger said. “A lot of these people don’t ever give up. It is the fun of bowling. But it is also the camaraderie.”

Some senior leaguers believe the sport is growing in popularity in people of all ages.

“I think bowling is coming back. You see all these young kids bowling,” said Rudy Varney, 65 of Plano. “It is cheap. Where else can you come in an afternoon and spend hours having fun.”

Gabe, who has survived open heart surgery, a knee replacement and rheumatoid arthritis, said hitting the lanes with his wife and friends is better than turning into a couch potato.

“It is a whole lot better than sitting at home watching TV,” Gabe said.

Gabe steps into the lane, begins his wind up and releases a ball with a nasty spin.

The result is a perfect strike and a round of applause from fellow leaguers.

“I’ll take that one,” Gabe said.

Someone asks, “How did you do that?”

Gabe replies, “I don’t know.”

Well, it certainly isn’t beginners luck.

You’re probably scratching you head and wondering who the hell I’m talking about. Hollywood is famous for the decadent lifestyle of it’s actors and actresses.

There are any number of rumors and speculation regarding the Hollywood couples who may be or are swingers. After all, Will Smith let the world know that he and his wife participate in an “open marriage”. This particular swinger celebrity is so old that he holds a Guinness world record. He has yet to get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame—rejected last month for the fifth consecutive year, for a grand total of seven times in 20 years. He goes by just one name. Cheeta.

Tarzan and Jane may be dead, but their chimpanzee companion lives.

The ape is the last of four Cheetas who starred in the old Tarzan movies. Hollywood often used many look-alike animals for one role, such as Lassie.

Because of his extraordinary longevity, this Cheeta is now considered The Cheeta. He’s believed to be 76 years old, earning a Guinness certificate as the world’s oldest living non-human primate. Chimps in captivity can live up to 60 years; in the wild, up to 40.

Today Cheeta is semiretired and living in Palm Springs, as many of the old entertainers do.

Will they never give up? This is a follow up to our previous blog Texas Swingers Club Battles City Hall,

Duncanville Police raided The Cherry Pit for a second time in three days.  Officers found hundreds of bottles of liquor while investigating whether the controversial swinger’s club is running an unlicensed bar.  (in case you didn’t know - raiding is the Duncanville’s phrase for “investigating”)

The Cherry Pit owners previously said that friends bring over the bottles and leave them there.

The city is also investigating whether there was money laundering and prostitution at the house as well.

Duncanville, Texas which proclaims itself “The Perfect Blend of Family, Community and Business,” is damned determined if nothing else.

I’ve always thought that farmers spent much of their time worrying about the weather and what time Bessie needed to be milked.

Shame on me… it appears that a United Kingdom farmer has more on his mind than the price of oats.

Dairy farmer Roger Stanbury of Devon, has decided to use one of his barns to host sex parties instead of housing his cows. Later this month he’ll open his Club Vanilla for “sexy fun” - condoms provided. All across NYC there are members-only lofts and venues holding swingers parties, typically accessed via a pre-approved password, complete with all the amenities a swinging couple or single person needs. Typically they’re BYOB (liquor licenses can be difficult to procure), and most charge couples a sizeable fee while letting in single women for free and denying stags entrance unless they’re accompanied by a woman.

Intimate Encounters takes place at a loft near Times Square whose location is only released to members. A lounge area, changing rooms, massage tables and several beds are in this 1,500 square foot space. The space caters to coupes, single females, and a few single males. It’s BYOB, but there’s a bartender on hand to help patrons concoct cocktails. Costs are $50 for couples, free for single females, and $150 for single males. (The model on the website’s homepage looks a lot like Shannon Elizabeth of American Pie fame, for what it’s worth.)

New York’s self-proclaimed “cleanest dirty place” is Brooklyn’s Casbar (117 25th Street). The 5,000-square-foot space offers BYOB bar service. Its rooms include amenities such as glory holes, spanking benches, and sex swings. Friday brings Women Who Love Cock Nights, while Saturday is Naughty Games Nights. And get ready for April 12: Poke-Her night.

One Leg Up, a well-known sex party run in NYC lofts and hotel suites, has gotten attention from places like the NY Post and Details in its decade of existence. One Leg Up throws two parties — Eat-In and Take-Out. Eat-Ins cost member couples $350, while single women are charged $50. At Take-Out parties, couples are charged $65, and single women, $10. There is no screening for this parties, and there “is no live playing… [but] getting sexy, topless and lots of tongue action” is encouraged. Locations and passwords for entry are revealed a few days before events.

Voyeur Events is one of the more upscale of these swingers’ gatherings, with parties happening once a month Entrance is a bit more pricey for couples—$150 for returning couples; $175 for new couples. Women are free, but no single men are allowed. At their “All Tied-Up” held on April 12th, they’ll introduced Shabari—Japanese rope bondage. Bar staff and mixers are on hand but booze, as always, is BYO… as are toys. Only members are allowed entrance; in order to become a member you have to send two photos of yourself and/or your partner, and pass a phone interview.

Orange County, California – An underground swingers club that advertises weekly sex parties for couples and has been operating as a photography studio is being shut down by the city.

A business license was applied for in August 2004, stating the purpose of the business was the “supply and design of model studios for photographic use.” On their city-mandated Sexually-Orientated/Adult Business application, they checked the box marked “Nude or Semi-nude Model Studio” rather than the box marked “Sexual Encounter Establishment.”

Club Amnesty has been promoting itself as an on-premise lifestyle members-only association club where patrons can expect to see various displays of nudity and sexual activity. The club offered different-themed rooms, including a Group Room, and a Gothic Room, which features a bed with tie-downs and a cross in the shape of a capital “X,” with wrist and ankle restraints. The club, open Friday and Saturday nights, advertises theme nights on its Web site, including a “Short Skirts and See-Thru Tops” Night on Saturday and its three-year anniversary June 28.

On their city-mandated Sexually-Orientated/Adult Business application, they checked the box marked “Nude or Semi-nude Model Studio” rather than the box marked “Sexual Encounter Establishment.”

Once the city got on their asses, they quickly came up with a number of violations aside from the discrepancies on the permits.

Swinging is not for everyone as evidenced by these City Fathers. This is but one small bump in the road for a growing and everchanging part of society.

We’re sorry to see Club Amnesty closing it’s doors but hopefully the growing and ever-changing Swinging Lifestyle will see another day - perhaps in your town!
